Speed dating with mountain worker Rosalien
Meet our mountain worker Rosalien
Our top Rosalien has been working at BergWerk for more than four years. Her sister, Milou Bauman, had been working at BergWerk for a number of years and asked Rosalien if she would like to have a conversation at BergWerk. No sooner said than done. In the meantime, she enjoys working with us and does not regret taking this step. We are also very happy with her on our team. She is a hard worker and knows very well what she is doing. We often receive compliments from our employees and customers about the collaboration with Rosalien. In this blog we zoom in on Roos' work, as we call her, and you can kind of speed date with mountain worker Rosalien. (;
So you ended up at BergWerk through your sister Milou?
“Yes! I completed the education assistant course in 2018. At that moment I couldn't immediately find a job where I saw myself working for a longer period of time. Milou was already working as an intercedent at BergWerk and asked me if I wanted to visit the office for a day. Simply, without obligation. At first I thought: Hmm, is this something for me? I didn't learn for this. Still, I went on a conversation, because that never hurt.
I immediately felt that there was a nice atmosphere in the office. I had a conversation with Milou and Annemarie, the owner of BergWerk. I received a clear explanation of what BergWerk is and does and what they could use extra hands with. I would be well trained and trained so that I could get started here without the right diploma. I slept on it for a night, but was enthusiastic. For example, I started as an intercedent at BergWerk!” on November 1, 2018
What is your current position?
“Over the past four years I have learned a lot at BergWerk. For example, I learned to switch quickly, maintain good contact with customers, job seekers and other parties and how best to make the right match between a vacancy and job seeker. I soon followed the SEU Uitzendprofessional course, which I successfully completed. I am currently working on job placement, guidance, personnel planning and administration at BergWerk. So my range of tasks has been greatly broadened.”
Is there anything you find difficult about your work?
“There are always certain situations that are more difficult than others, but by sparring a lot with my colleagues we always arrive at the right solution. As a result, I do not experience such moments as stressful, because together as a team we solve (almost) everything!”
What is it like to work with your sister?
“Terrible. Haha, no joke! We think exactly the same in many things. That's very useful. This allows us to understand each other quickly. We have therefore experienced working together as very pleasant since the beginning. We get along well both at work and privately. Actually we are best friends haha.”
What do you find important in a good relationship with customers and job seekers?
“I think the most important thing is personal contact. If you don't know a job seeker or customer well enough, it is also difficult to make the right match. I always invite job seekers for a cup of coffee at our office and then I have an extensive intake interview. About customers, I regularly visit here to taste atmosphere, see what happens in the workplace and also to maintain personal contact with employees, contacts and team leaders.”
Can you describe an average working day?
“No, that's really not possible haha. Every day is so different! Every morning it is a surprise what will happen that day. That's what makes the work so much fun. Of course there is a bit of a guideline as to what the day will look like, because I already know in the morning which appointments I have planned for that day. Only the space between them can change every minute. Does a vacancy suddenly have a high priority? Is an employee sick and a replacement needed as soon as possible? Then I focus on that first. This means it is never boring. In any case, with our nice team of colleagues, it is always fun!”
You work in-house at Maars Living Walls. Can you tell us more about that?
“One of my first customers at BergWerk was Maars Living Walls and has been my biggest customer ever since. As Maars grew and grew more, they decided to work more with us. That is why we went into-house at Maars. This means that we have our own office at Maars where I sit every week. This way I can serve the customer even better. The rest of the week I work for Maars from BergWerk's office. There are a lot of benefits when you work in-house with a customer, namely:
- Easily enter the workplace to ask how our employees are doing;
- Easy consultation with HR and team leaders;
- Employees know where to find me and can walk in if they have any questions;
- I regularly give a tour to new employees or people who may be interested in a job at Maars.
