We believe it is important to work not only for people, but also for animals! That is why we support Dierenasiel De Ark and ACE|SHIN. Our BergWerk team has now also been expanded with a dog and a cat from ACE|SHIN.

Why does BergWerk support these organizations?

This question was answered quickly... because we have a huge heart for animals with the entire BergWerk team. In our private lives we were able to get to know the above organizations directly. Their working method, their determination, it has done something to us. We do not want to watch from the sidelines for this, but also actually contribute something. This can be done in different ways. We choose to reach as many people as possible through our network and to raise awareness of these goals. We will also actively set up donation campaigns. Through personal visits to these organizations we keep the lines short and try to meet the needs that are greatest. This could include additional personnel, feed, materials, transport, expense reimbursements and more.

About Dierenasiel De Ark

More than 900 cats and dogs are cared for by the Ark every year. Stray animals, animals that have been left behind or animals that humans have renounced because they can no longer care for any reason.

Their working area consists of the municipalities of Harderwijk, Ermelo, Nunspeet, Zeewolde, Oldebroek, Elburg, Putten, Heerde and Hattem. This largely concerns stray animals that are collected by the animal ambulance and taken to the Ark after a report to the Amivedi Foundation or De Ark. Here the animals receive love, shelter, nutrition and medical care. The goal is to find a good home for the animals again.

About Animal Shelter ACE|SHIN

Lonely and waiting in a dirty cage until the end approaches. No more future, rejected and thrown away, nothing more and nothing less. Arrived at the terminal station of their lives, the so-called ‘killingstation’ (death station). No one wants to be their owner anymore and no one is going to take care of them. On every street corner, along every road, behind every old building... everywhere you will find seriously neglected animals. The pain and sadness can be read directly in the big sad eyes. Is there no one who wants to take care of these sweet animals?

Still! People with a heart of gold live in the Malaga area. People who give their lives to these animals. People who save what can be saved. This beautiful organization is called ACE|SHIN, Animal Care Espana, Spanish Dogs in Need and was set up by Fabienne Paques. This originally Belgian lady thought she could enjoy a beautiful life in the sun in Spain. Nothing could be further from the truth. Fabienne was confronted with the appalling situation in which the many (stray) dogs found themselves and the way in which the Spanish government thought it had found a ‘solution’ for this.

Fabienne could no longer bear this terrible suffering and made her mission to save as many animals as possible from death and give them the right to life back. Since 1999, her dog and cat shelter has been in place with its own veterinary clinic where simple procedures take place. Most of the items in the shelter and clinic have all been donated, from dog chunk to medicine, from basket to pool. The shelter runs entirely on volunteers and interns. The demand for financial and material resources remains very high day after day, week after week. A successful adoption system has now been set up via the website and ACE|SHIN has groups of volunteers in several other countries who supervise this adoption process.
