Step 01: Choose a good time

This works to your advantage, because then you are more likely to receive a well-thought-out proposal. Extra tip: schedule the conversation in the morning. The later the conversation, the longer you hang on it and the more tension it can cause!

Step 06: Stay as relaxed as possible

Asking for a salary increase can be exciting. One does it with two fingers in his nose and the other is awake at night. Letting go of your nerves may sound easier said than done, but know that asking for a salary increase is the most normal thing in the world. So you really don't have to feel burdened.
