9 tips for working from home

We are happy to help you with these 9 tips for working from home.

No travel time, sleep in longer and control over what music is played. Working from home sounds like music to many. But beware... after a while you might end up in a rut. Because if you don't approach working from home properly, it will have disadvantages over time. How do you ensure a good day of working from home and how do you keep working from home fun? You can read that in this blog with 9 tips for working from home.

1. Put on a work outfit

It is incredibly nice to roll out of bed and slowly wake up behind your screen with a cup of coffee in hand. But when you often work from home, this can ultimately be at the expense of your productivity and well-being. When you put on a work outfit, it is easier to get into the right work mode. So this makes you more productive. In addition, it is also more pleasant for yourself to see yourself representatively in the mirror than in a home suit every day.

2. Keep control of the day

Whether you have difficulty concentrating or skip breaks, we have a good website for you! With the Pomodoro Timer you bring more rhythm and regularity to your day, which ultimately makes you more productive again. Turn on the alarm and get started. When you have to focus, you really do this. Don't quickly check your phone or hang up the laundry. Full Focus! If the bell rings, you have a break. You can set whether this is 5 minutes or 15 minutes.

3. Move enough

A walk around the block with colleagues is not an option when you work from home. Therefore, consciously plan time to exercise. You can go for a walk with the dog during the break, but you can also do special workouts behind your desk. Although this takes a few minutes of your time, you will win a lot in return. You become more productive and therefore get more done in a shorter time. We explain how you can move without too much effort this blog.

4. Listen to this music

You may listen to the radio while working or prefer not to listen to music at all. But did you know that there are special types of music that make you focus better? TikTok is very enthusiastic about the so-called Brown Noise. This sound provides peace in your brain. This allows you to concentrate optimally and neutralizes environmental sounds. Are you looking for something that sounds more like music? Then take a look around Spotify. Here you will find ready-made playlists to choose from. Search for ‘focus’ or ‘concentrate’ and you have plenty of choice. Our personal favorite is House Focus. Recommended!

5. Ensure the right work-life balance

When you work from home, work and private life increasingly merge. These may be your children who demand your attention during working hours, but this can also lead to working in the late hours. This way you spend all day working & private at the same time and that is not the intention. Therefore, make clear agreements with yourself, your partner and/or housemates. For example, do not work after dinner or do household chores during working hours. Also provide a nice home workplace where you can really retreat. Keep this place tidy. This way you can go to work every day with a good feeling of ‘.

6. Create the office of your dreams

Set up a comfortable home workplace and invest in a monitor and a good desk. Your employer may offer a work-from-home allowance with which you can set up your office. How ideal is that? Don't have a separate office space? Then put a desk in the bedroom or work outside the door. Nowadays you can rent flex workplaces anywhere that are super well furnished. You can also work in a coffee shop for variety. Especially if you don't live with others, this is a nice way to be among people on a working day.

7. Be connected to your colleagues and the company as much as possible

Go to the weekly drinks or meet up with colleagues after work. If you work from home a lot, it is important to see your colleagues in real life regularly. Also ensure sufficient contact on your working day at home. Call/mail app with your colleagues to stay informed. You should preferably do this at the beginning of the working day to discuss what should be done that day and at the end to check what has been done/whether there are any details.

8. Make old school a to do list with pen and paper

When everything is done digitally, it is sometimes nice to put something on paper. And what better way to put on paper than a TO DO list? Not only do you create overview, but it also motivates you to cross tasks off the list. At the beginning of the day you can share your TO DO with your colleague (‘s). This way you have more of a stick behind the door to finish that list at the end of the day.

9. End your day well

Last but not least, ensure a good end to your day. If you have been at home all day, it is good to go out for a while. Get a message, don't get your food delivered, take it off or exercise with a friend (in). Especially if you live alone, it is good to see how you want to fill your evenings per week.
